New CPD officer sworn-in

Matthew Anderson

Matthew Anderson was sworn-in as the Columbus Police Department’s newest officer by Mayor Jim Lienhoop during a Board of Public Works and Safety meeting held at Columbus City Hall on Tuesday.

Anderson is a graduate of Lafayette Senior High School in Lexington, Kentucky. He later graduated from Georgetown College where he played soccer and received a bachelor’s degree in communications and media studies.

For the past six years, Anderson has worked as an officer, and most recently a detective, with the Colorado Springs Police Department. During his time as a law enforcement officer in Colorado, Anderson received a number of commendations including being awarded his department’s Medal of Valor two times.

Officer Anderson will begin orientation and in service training at the police department in preparation of starting CPD’s field training program later this spring.
