Police arrest North Vernon woman after finding large amount of methamphetamine

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Thursday morning traffic stop by Columbus police officers led to the arrest of a North Vernon woman on several drug related charges, including methamphetamine dealing, after a large amount of the drug was recovered by law enforcement.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on March 18th, CPD officers stopped a vehicle for a minor violation in the 2400 block of North National Road, said Lt Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers noted that the driver of the vehicle, Cathy E. Ford, 52, of North Vernon was visibly nervous. A CPD canine officer responded to the scene and the handler advised that the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics inside Ford’s truck, Harris said.
