Hauser boys win

HOPE — The Hauser boys won, and the girls took second Monday in a tri meet at Hauser.

The Jet boys scored 93 points to 27 for Crothersville and six for Trinity Lutheran. Crothersville’s girls won with 65 points to 55 for Hauser and 13 for Trinity.

Aleck Lopez led the Jet boys with wins in the long jump (20 feet, 1 inch), 100 meters (11.8 seconds) and 200 (25.5). Forest Steele took the 110 hurdles (17.9) and 300 hurdles (49.4), Cameron Toole captured the 400 (59.3), Ben Essex won the 800 (2:29.0) and Hauser swept the 4×800 (10:42.0), 4×100 (1:06.0) and 4×400 (4:15.0) relays.

Carly Beeker led the Jet girls with wins in the 100 hurdles (18.8) and 300 hurdles (1:04.7). Marnie Schwartzkopf took the 800 (2:35.0), and Hauser captured the 4×100 (1:01.0) and 4×400 (5:43.0) relays.

Trinity’s Mya Lindroth won the 400 (1:11.0) and 200 (31.1).

Twisters top Jets

BATESVILLE — Hauser opened its season with a 5-0 loss against Oldenburg Academy at Batesville.

Andie Clark fell to Mimi Wilder 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Kaitlynn Everroad lost to Alyssa Wansteath 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Bella Kilps fell to Evie Vanderpohl 6-4, 1-6, (7-6) at No. 3 singles. Emily Harker and Charlie Clark lost to Emma Back and Evelyn Storms 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Gabby Johns and Aly Deweese fell to Mary Hunter and Izzy Price 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

SOFTBALL

Cubs nip Lancers

FRANKLIN — Edinburgh jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, but Franklin rallied for a 6-5 victory.

Morgan Calhoun went 2 for 2 for the Lancers (1-2). Pitcher MacKenzie Bieker had two RBIs.

BASEBALL

Cougars edge Eagles

OSGOOD — South Decatur took advantage of seven Jac-Cen-Del errors to post its first win of the season, a 6-5 triumph.

Avery Seegers went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (1-3).
