Indianapolis driver arrested on multiple drug-related charges

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Indianapolis man on multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Deputy Ryan Smith conducted a traffic stop at 9:31 p.m. at Lewis Drive and U.S. 31.

When speaking with the driver, identified as Charles F. Russell, 24, Indianapolis, Smith smelled the odor of marijuana coming from Russell’s vehicle.

Smith located two baggies containing a white crystal substance, which tested positive
for methamphetamine, 30 grams, and two other baggies containing green leafy substances.

Russell was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of:
— Dealing in methamphetamine
— Possession of methamphetamine
— Possession of paraphernalia
— Possession of marijuana
— Possession of a synthetic drug
Russell remains in jail in lieu of $323,500 bond, jail officials said.
