NORTH VERNON
Judith M. Thompson passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility after a brief battle with liver cancer.
Judy was born April 29, 1941, in North Vernon, the third of four children of Colin and Irene McLaughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Coleen DeCamp. Judy married Terry Thompson December 11, 1992, in North Vernon. He survives.
Judy was a 1959 graduate of North Vernon High School. Her favorite job was that of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was happiest when she was with the grandkids, working on her flowers, sitting on the deck with a glass of wine watching the hummingbirds, or on the beach somewhere watching the surf. Judy traveled extensively and rarely left Indiana through the hundreds and hundreds of novels and books she read. She also had been office manager for Doctors Wiethoff and Schultz and a substitute teacher at Jennings County Middle School, her second favorite job.
She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in North Vernon, the longest sustaining member of the church, having served on various boards and committees over the years. Currently she was serving as communion steward. She was also a member of North Vernon Chapter #183 Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband Terry of North Vernon, Judy is survived by Patrick (Kathy) Marsh of North Vernon, Peter (Jeanna) Marsh of Mobile, AL, Philip (Tonja) Marsh of North Vernon; stepson, Jon (Jamia) Thompson of Star, ID; grandchildren, Danielle (Dustin) Lisenba of Mobile, AL, Jacqueline Marsh of Dallas, TX, Ali (Greer) Henderson of Atlanta, GA, Tucker, Garrett, Sadie, and Levi Marsh all of North Vernon; step-grandsons, Dylan and Bodhi Thompson of Star, ID; great-granddaughter, Harper Lisenba of Mobile, AL; sister, Janet (ED) Larrison of Seymour; brother, Jerry (Mercy) McLaughlin of Aurora; brothers-in-law, Richard DeCamp, and Tracy (Amy) Thompson of North Vernon; sister-in-law, Rayann Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life Saturday, April 10, 2021, at First United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. The service will be live streamed on: Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/FirstUMC.NV and Youtube Channel Link: http://bit.ly/FUMCNV. Rev’s. Terry Brammer and Marvin Sweet will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. There will be a luncheon served by the men’s group of First United Methodist Church immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
