Ruby Fleetwood, 99, of Elizabethtown, was called home Monday, April 5, 2021.

Ruby was born March 2, 1922, in Monroe County, the daughter of John and Rebecca Hays Hillenberg.

She married Garnold Fleetwood October 8, 1943. He preceded her in death September 12, 2003.

Survivors include her son Dale (Sandra) Fleetwood; daughter-in-law, Katrina Fleetwood; grandchildren, Kris (Jaime) Jones, Brian (Missy) Fleetwood and Marci (Mike) McCauley all of Elizabethtown; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Peyton Fleetwood, Jace Jones and Cierra McCauley.

Ruby loved to hunt mushrooms and ginseng, gardening and flowers.

She enjoyed word search puzzles, Saturday night auctions, family reunions and Sunday watermelon outside with family.

Her grandchildren loved her mashed potatoes, noodles and German chocolate cake and she always had treats for the great-grandchildren.

The home place as she called it was in the hills of Monroe County. Before moving to Elizabethtown which was home until the age of 90.

For the last 9 years home was at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

The family would like to thank Miller’s Merry Manor for the care and kindness shown to Ruby and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Wayne in 2019; brothers, Chester and Lester Hillenberg; sisters, Florence Ross, Vearl Deckard, Irene Deckard, Helen Stewart and Marie Fleetwood.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to time of service Friday at the funeral home.

We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines and masks are required.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
