COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Jeannine Lear danced her way into heaven on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
Jeannine was born November 8, 1930, in Kokomo, the daughter of Charles and Zettie Nancy Hickle Parker. On February 2, 1951, Jeannine married Thomas A. Lear, he preceded her in death September 19, 2016.
Jeannine started dancing and performing at the age of 2. She continued, whether it be dancing her way through the grocery store or performing with different groups such as the Timesteppers out of Indianapolis or the Mill Race Cloggers, until the age of 85. Jeannine worked for American Greeting Cards as a merchandiser for 25 years. She loved playing bridge and played nearly every day with various groups. She enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir. Besides dancing, singing, playing cards, and being our social butterfly, she also enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff (Nancy) Lear of Columbus, Samra (Rick) Hallett of California and Andra (Dan) Hirsch of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Bill and Dave Parker.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Our mother loved life!! She always said she was going to live to be 100. Honor our mother by loving life and enjoying every moment. Put on some music and dance like no one is watching. Check in with your elderly loved ones and friends, give them a call, send them a card, take them a meal, spend time with them. Plant some beautiful flowers, dance through the grocery store, sing along to the music, play some bridge, be present.
