NORTH VERNON — The Jennings County Women’s Giving Circle is a philanthropic organization benefiting women and children in Jennings County.
The Giving Circle works under the umbrella of the Jennings County Community Foundation, as monies raised fund grants for local community organizations.
This year, the organization plans to award $3,000 or more in grants.
Previous grants were awarded to the Senior Resources of Jennings County, the Jennings County Council of Domestic Violence, the FLASH program, the Jennings County Youth Foundation, and the Jennings County Soil and Water Conservation District.
The money also funds the REACH Conference. This is an annual conference for high school girls where career-successful women share their post-high school life.
Senior Makenna Maschino who attended the 2018 Reach Conference, said she enjoyed the experience.
“I was influenced by Brandy Zamora of the Indiana Alumni Association. She was a very empowering and an influential woman to me,” Maschino said. “She had a cool and interesting career going.”
More than 900 girls have attended this conference in the past.
The 2021 conference will be held in November. Speakers are being lined up and lunch is being planned. It will be held at the Barn at Willow Lake in North Vernon.
Membership of the WGC consists of women of all ages and all backgrounds who come together, pool their contributions, and make funding decisions together.
