VERNON — Just in time for prom and bridal seasons, the Jennings County Historical Society will present a special program on the art of applying makeup later this week.

Certified as a Master Makeup Artist for special makeup effects in motion pictures, television and print, Danielle Colbert will give a presentation on April 16.

Colbert earned a B.S in theater from the University of Southern Indiana in 2002 before traveling to Burbank, California where she earned her certification as a makeup artist in 2004.

The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. at the Jennings County Historical Society Museum Building, 134 East Brown St. in Vernon.

The program is free and open to the public.

Masks will be worn and social distancing will be observed.

“Our speaker series for 2021 will be about, and presented by, all kinds of artists,” JCHS Museum Curator Chris Asher said. We tend to think that art is just about paintings and statues and things like that but art is really about many kinds of things.”

Asher said future presentations will include the art of making beautiful chinaware, quilt making, woodworking and other art forms.

“I think people will enjoy this year’s programs and gain an appreciation of the many different forms of art in our everyday world,” Asher said.
