Wise threw a one-hit shutout, struck out eight and had an RBI in Friday’s 3-0 win at Jasper. Earlier in the week, he allowed three hits and struck out 11 in six shutout innings in a 3-0 win against Edgewood.

His performance last week: “I felt great the whole week. In both games, all four of my pitches were on. I could put them where I wanted, and our defense was really good behind me. The two teams we played were really good teams, and we were glad to get two wins.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Every time for lunch, I’ll go to Chipotle. Before the games, I’ll have the trainers work on me, and then I’ll put some headphones on and listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Sweet tea”

Favorite food: “Pizza”

Favorite class: “Radio and television”

Favorite sports team: “Chicago Cubs”

Favorite athlete: “Kyle Hendricks”

Role model: “My dad (Gene Wise) and (former East and current Wright State player) Julian Greenwell”

Best advice: “Remember your vision, even when other can’t see it. Stay true to yourself and make your dreams and desires come to life.”

Athletics goal: “After my two years of junior college (at Olney Central), I’d like to play Division I baseball.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably London, just because you see the pictures, and it’s so nice, and it’s always been a place I’ve wanted to go to.”

Taylor went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs in a 13-3 win at Triton Central, 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs in Friday’s 15-5 win at Waldron, 3 for 3 in Saturday’s 15-1 win at Indianapolis Lutheran and 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs in Saturday’s 11-6 win against Edinburgh.

Her performance last week: “I definitely could have done better, but I knew my team had my back, so I wasn’t really worried about my performance alone.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually just listen to music before a game.”

Favorite sports team: “Michigan State softball”

Role model: “My mom (Amee Taylor).”

Best advice: “No matter what kind of game you’re having, just keep your head up because if you let your head down, then it’s going to have a snowball effect.”

If you could travel anywhere: “The Bahamas, because I love warm weather.”
