COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local woman was arrested after law enforcement officers spotted a vehicle that was stolen from a Columbus parking lot early Friday morning.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., CPD officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Fifth Street in regards to a man who advised that someone stole his sport utility vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. The man advised that the vehicle was likely left unlocked and there was an extra key fob in the vehicle.

Utilizing a GPS tracker on the vehicle, it was determined that the stolen vehicle was near Elizabethtown, Harris said.

With the assistance of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, the stolen vehicle was located parked at a residence in the 7600 block of County Road 800N.

After conducting an investigation at the residence, officers arrested Alexus R. Jenkins, 24, of Columbus. While searching Jenkins, the officers reportedly located marijuana that Jenkins had concealed in her clothing, Harris said.

Jenkins was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of auto theft and possession of marijuana.
