Suspect surrenders after standoff at residence

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies responded to residence in the area of 4000 S. County Road 550W after the Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call at 2:42 a.m. of a domestic disturbance occurring with battery.

The caller told dispatch that the suspect was armed and had threatened to kill subjects at the home, Sheriff Matt Myers said. Deputies arrived and were able to get all in the residence to safety.

The subject remained in the residence and made threats of of self harm and or suicide by cop. CPD SWAT was called to scene and after a couple of hours of negotiations with the suspect, he came out peacefully.  More information is expected to be released later today.
