The Bartholomew County National Day of Prayer will be an in-person event open to all at 6:30 p.m. today at The Commons at 300 Washington St. in downtown Columbus.
The nationwide theme this year is “Lord, Pour Out Your Love, Life and Liberty” from 2 Corinthians 3:17. At the annual gathering, clergy and other community leaders come together to publicly pray for a broad range of interests, including leaders in government, law enforcement, education, media and much more. Normally, people from as many as 20 different Christian churches come together, and leaders regularly cite that unity as a hallmark of the Christian faith.
The late Jean Bunton of Garden City founded the local event.
