Retirement Ceremony to honor North Vernon police chief

The City of North Vernon is planning on hosting a retirement ceremony to celebrate James Webster’s 27-year career as a police officer.

Webster began his service on January 1, 1994 and was sworn-in as an officer by Mayor John Hall. Throughout his career, he has served as a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant, chief of police, and firearms instructor.

Everyone is welcome to come by and wish Webster well as he moves into the next phase of his life with Columbus Regional Hospital Police.

The ceremony is set for 6 to 8 p.m. May 14 at Willow Lake Event Center located at 2130 W. County Road 200N in North Vernon.

Several special presentations will be made at 6:30 p.m. A cake and other light refreshments will be served.
