INDOT to have public hearing on Jennings project

Staff Reports

JENNINGS COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public hearing for an improvement project on State Road 7 in Jennings County on May 26 at North Vernon Education and Training Center, 1200 W. O&M Ave., North Vernon.

The project includes intersection improvements on State Road 7 at County Road 275W, Country Squire Boulevard, and at Dollar General, as well as a small structure replacement just north of County Road 275W. The purpose of the project is to address current roadway deficiencies and reduce the likelihood of crashes at these locations. The project also aims to improve the rating and functionality of the small structure/culvert. Construction would be completed under a short-term closure of State Road 7 starting in summer of 2022.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public to view displays and talk with project personnel prior to the hearing. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m. A virtual presentation including all project materials will also be hosted on the project website (virtual open house) that night. In addition, the presentation can be viewed any time following the scheduled meeting.

Verbal statements will be heard during a public comment session immediately following the in-person presentation. Written comments may be submitted prior to the hearing and within the comment period (by June 10) to Leah Perry (American Structurepoint, 9025 River Road, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46240), or via email to [email protected].
