Mark Alan Shireman, devoted husband and father, passed away on May 16, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.
Mark was born on December 2, 1955 to Paul Edwin and Lucille Goetz Shireman.
Mark graduated from Columbus North High School in 1974, and married the love of his life, Gayla Luther Shireman in 1976; the two raised three children. He was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed the summer tractor pulling season.
Mark was quiet, kind, and dependable. He was able to bring good humor and calmness to any situation he encountered, and provided a wonderful example of how to live every day of his life.
Mark’s love, and the example that he set, will live on in anyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gayla Luther Shireman; children Ross Shireman (Denise Muncy), Clint (Victoria) Shireman, Caroline Shireman; Mother Lucille Goetz Shireman; Brother Maurice (Janet) Shireman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edwin Shireman; father-in-law, Max Luther and mother-in-law, Carolyn Luther.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Martin E. Wright officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. We do ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines inside the funeral home and masks are required. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at 11:00 a.m. Friday at barkesweaverglick.com In keeping with the family’s request cremation will take place after the funeral service Friday.
