Letter: CRH needs to clean up land on west side

From: Carol Price

Columbus

It’s been almost four years since Columbus Regional Health purchased the land where the former Clarion Hotel and Conference Center stood. The plans, according to a CRH press release, were to develop the area for westside healthcare service and expansion.

Understandably, COVID has derailed many projects across business. However, when I communicated with the hospital regarding the very poor condition of the derelict area over a year ago, I was assured plans would be forthcoming.

My request was, in the meanwhile, that the area was maintained and improved to at least compare with Columbus’ general philosophy of being a great place to live, well cared for, and a pleasant environment.

There may have been some small tidy-up, but now once again the area is neglected and a total eyesore at the main entrance to our city. It speaks of carelessness and gives a very poor initial impression to anyone who might visit our lovely city, and is a continuing reminder to those of us who enjoy the westside People Trail of poor planning and diligence.

My last note to the hospital over a year ago did not illicit a response. I do hope this will.
