Little Free Library reported stolen

A local resident has reported a Little Free Library container stolen from its location at 23rd Street and Home Avenue and is seeking its return.

Megan Valek said she believes the library, made out of a former newspaper box, was taken two nights ago. She has contacted local scrap yards and recyclers but has not found it at those locations.

"The community has been really sweet about it, with several people saying they walk by it all the time and love seeing it. I even had one woman say she and her son walk by it all the time and would gladly help me rebuild it if it comes to that!" Valek said.

The box contains books donated by community residents which may be borrowed and then returned for others to read at their leisure.

The Republic and other AIM Media Indiana companies have donated several of the boxes for different uses such as this one.

Anyone with information about who might have taken the metal library box and where it is located should contact the Columbus Police Department tip line at (812) 376-2600. Tips may be left anonymously.
