NORTH VERNON
Mary Lucille Poer, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:51 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
Born July 13, 1937 in Greenwood, she was the daughter of Harley W. and Nancy I (Dalton) McIntire. She married Walter Eugene “Gene” Poer on September 3, 1954 in Vernon; he survives.
Mary was a 1956 graduate of Vernon High School and worked as a seamstress for Regal Rugs in North Vernon for ten years and was a Jennings County School Bus Driver for ten years; she also worked for the Foster Grandparent Program. Mary was a member of the Grayford Road Church of God in North Vernon and a former member of the North Vernon Bowling Association. She enjoyed reading the Bible, watching sports, wildlife, and Dr. Pol Vet on TV, birdwatching, gardening, mowing grass, singing, and taking pictures.
Surviving with her husband, Gene, is her son, Dan (Connie) Poer of Butlerville; daughter, Linda Sue (Jiles) Mullins of North Vernon; sister, Fern Horn of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tim (Susan) Poer and Monica Mullins, both of North Vernon, and Kristi (Joel) Galarza of Leadville, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Levi Galarza, and Leo Galarza, both of Leadville, Colorado, Jorgia Ashpaugh, Journey Ashpaugh, Justice Ashpaugh, Jonathan Ashpaugh, Jr., Jasmyn Horn and Gaige Poer, all of North Vernon; and great-grandchild, Maddin Saylor of Butlerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert Eugene and David Poer; brothers, Daniel and Harley McIntire; and sisters, Martha E. Doty and Ruth Snyder.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Mary through the funeral home to Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Research.
