For the third year in a row, Columbus North has swept the Conference Indiana All-Sports Championships.
The Bull Dog boys won for the eighth time, and the girls were victorious for the 17th time in the conference’s 24-year history. The victory for the girls was their 15th in the past 16 years.
Columbus North’s boys recorded 66 points and were followed by Bloomington North with 52, Bloomington South with 50, Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South each with 30.5 and Southport with 22. The Bull Dog boys won conference titles in football, soccer, cross-country and tennis and shared titles in basketball and baseball.
Columbus North’s girls racked up 68.5 points and were followed by Bloomington South with 50.5, Bloomington North with 49.5, Terre Haute South with 33, Terre Haute North with 22.5 and Southport with 22. The Bull Dog girls won conference titles in soccer, cross-country, golf, basketball, gymnastics, softball and tennis.
Track athletes named Academic All-State
Four local girls track seniors have been selected Academic All-State by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association. Columbus East’s Katie Hagan, Hannah Hemmerlein and Elise LaSell made the team, along with Hauser’s Marnie Schwartzkopf.
Meanwhile, Hemmerlein has been named to the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Academic All-State girls track team. East juniors Mallory Rupp, Gabi Schuetz and Olivia Shoaf and South Decatur junior Alli Nobbe made honorable mention.
Jennings County senior Gavin Hendrix and South Decatur junior Ian Frensemeier are on the IATCCC Academic All-State boys track team. Jennings juniors Caleb Grills and Logan McIntosh are honorable mention selections.
Softball players make Academic All-State
Seven local softball seniors have been named Academic All-State by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Hauser’s Zoee Nading, Dani Steward and Lexi Tallent made the squad, along with Jennings County’s Brooke Mowery, Shelby Wilson, Alaina Young and Averi Zamora.
Locals picked for All-MHC teams
Several players from Hauser’s Mid-Hoosier Conference champion softball team and co-champion baseball team have been selected to this year’s MHC squads, and Andy Brunner is the MHC Softball Coach of the Year.
The Jets’ Paige McDaniel, Kyra Meister, Zoee Nading, Dani Steward and Hannah Taylor are on the All-Conference softball team, along with Edinburgh’s Kaitlyn Bailey, MacKenzie Bieker, Gracie Crawhorn and Kyah Streeval and South Decatur’s Erynn Dyer and Loryn Pate. Edinburgh’s Carly Cowan and Mackenzie Whetstine made honorable mention.
Hauser’s Levi Gollmer, Koby Johnson, Sam Miller and Alex Pattingill were named to the All-MHC baseball team, along with South Decatur’s Devin Pate and Avery Seegers. Hauser’s Frankie Poole and Bryce Trotter, South Decatur’s Ben Stier and Edinburgh’s Noah Detling and Riley Palmeter made honorable mention.
North to host Bull Pup Camp for volleyball
Columbus North’s Paige Osbourne will host the volleyball Columbus North Bull Pup Camp for her senior project Tuesday through June 3 at North High School for children entering Grades K through 8. Times are 5 to 6 p.m. for Grades K to 5 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. for Grades 6 to 8.
No experience is needed to participate in the camp and the camp will be a way for these kids to learn basic volleyball skills. Cost for the camp is $45 and includes a camp t-shirt.

North girls to hold free Youth Soccer Skills Camp
The Columbus North girls soccer team will hold a free Youth Soccer Skills Camp beginning from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continuing June 9, 16 and 23 and July 7 and 14 at the new BCSC Soccer Complex for girls ages 7 to 13.
Each session will focus on individual skill development through small-sided activities. Players will be coached by current and past North players.

North girls hoops to hold Summer Youth Camp
Columbus North girls basketball will hold its Summer Youth Camp June 7 to 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. for incoming fifth-through-eighth-graders and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for incoming second-through-fourth-graders.
The cost is $75 for Grades 5-8 and $70 for Grades 2-4. Campers will be instructed by North head coach Brett White and his staff, along with college and high school players.

East girls hoops to host Kids Basketball Camp
Columbus East Girls Basketball is currently taking registrations for its annual Kids Basketball Camp, which will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. June 7, 8, 10 and 11 for incoming sixth-through-eighth-graders.
The camp focuses on teaching the fundamentals and providing kids with drills they can continue to do after camp to improve Cost is $50, and all campers will receive a t-shirt. Other awards will be given to daily contest winners and Camper of the Week.
