Hauser boys win All-Sports trophy

The Hauser boys have won the Mid-Hoosier Conference All-Sports award for the 2020-21 school year.

The Jets, who won a championships in boys cross-country and shared the title in baseball, accumulated 32.5 points. Southwestern (Shelby) edged boys cross-country and boys basketball champion South Decatur 27.5 to 26 for second. Edinburgh finished fifth with 20 points.

Hauser’s girls, which won MHC titles in volleyball and softball, finished third with 27.5 points, trailing Waldron (35) and Southwestern (Shelby) (30). Edinburgh edged South Decatur 17 to 16.5 for sixth.

McIntosh picked for North-South game

Columbus North senior Kyler McIntosh has been selected to play in this year’s baseball North-South All-Star Game.

McIntosh has been the top hitter and pitcher for the Bull Dogs this season. He is 8-1 with a 1.73 ERA and is batting .400 with six doubles, five triples, three home runs and 38 RBIs in leading North to a 27-4-1 record and Conference Indiana and sectional titles.

He will lead the Bull Dogs into Saturday’s Jasper Regional.

Boys golf teams set for sectional

The three Bartholomew County boys golf teams will play in the Greensburg Sectional beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Greensburg Country Club.

No. 11 Columbus North will be the favorite. Columbus East and Hauser will seek top-three spots that would send them to the June 10 Providence Regional.

The rest of the area schools will play on Monday. Brown County and Trinity Lutheran will be in the Bloomington North Sectional at 8 a.m. at Cascades. Edinburgh will play in the Franklin Sectional at 9 a.m. at The Legends, and Jennings County will be in the Madison Sectional at 11 a.m. at Sunrise.

Hauser doubles duo to play in regional

A pair of Hauser seniors are still alive in the Girls Tennis Individual State Tournament. Emily Harker and Aunaka Wasil will play in the Bedford North Lawrence Regional on Saturday.

Harker and Wasil, who are 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the postseason, will face Heritage Hills seniors Liz Mehling and Avery Neff (10-6, 1-0) at 10 a.m. The winner will meet a doubles team from Vincennes Rivet or New Albany in the 2 p.m. regional final.

The regional champion advances to the June 11-12 state finals.

North girls hoops to hold Summer Youth Camp

Columbus North girls basketball will hold its Summer Youth Camp Monday through June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. for incoming fifth-through-eighth-graders and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for incoming second-through-fourth-graders.

The cost is $75 for Grades 5-8 and $70 for Grades 2-4. Campers will be instructed by North head coach Brett White and his staff, along with college and high school players.

East girls hoops to host Kids Basketball Camp

Columbus East Girls Basketball is currently taking registrations for its annual Kids Basketball Camp, which will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and June 10 and 11 for incoming sixth-through-eighth-graders.

The camp focuses on teaching the fundamentals and providing kids with drills they can continue to do after camp to improve. Cost is $50, and all campers will receive a t-shirt. Other awards will be given to daily contest winners and Camper of the Week.
