Letter: Voters should stand up against gerrymandering

I read Tuesday’s front page Republic article on unfair gerrymandering with great interest.

I have voted for a long time in loyal opposition, even though it was an exercise in futility. My state and local vote hasn’t really counted for years because the outcomes were essentially preordained.

I voted anyway.

By law, voting district lines will soon be redrawn by a Republican Redistricting Commission following 2020 Census data.

With a continuing Republican State House supermajority in the bag, why would they want to redraw voting district lines to change their advantage? They can continue to do anything they want.

Will voters have to wait until another 10 years’ Census before they declare enough? When will ALL our sacred votes actually count again?
