An annual rite of summer, the 2021 Home Run Derby (8 p.m., ESPN) unfolds at Denver’s Coors Field. The stadium’s location and altitude give it a reputation for thin air and long-traveling balls. Over on ESPN2, viewers can catch a "Statcast Edition" of analytics and graphics to accompany the flying baseballs.
The MLB All-Star Game airs tomorrow on Fox, but tonight we get something called the 2021 All-Star Celebrity Softball Game (10 p.m., ESPN), featuring an assortment of singers, rappers, actors and social media figures including JoJo Siwa, The Miz, Quavo, Residente, Noah Beck, DK Metcalf, CC Sabathia and Larry Walker.
Not to be confused with "The Celebrity Dating Game" (10 p.m., ABC, TV-PG), "Celebrity IOU" (HGTV) tonight features acts of charitable renovations from Rainn Wilson (8 p.m.) and Gwyneth Paltrow (9 p.m.).
— Speaking of celebrities, "Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes" (9 p.m., HBO) explores journalist Ronan Farrow’s efforts to expose Hollywood and Broadway producer Harvey Weinstein as a serial rapist and predator.
First up: an interview with model Ambra Gutierrez. After Weinstein’s crude assault, she turned to the New York City police and wore a wire to entrap him. Rather than enjoy vindication, she was brutalized in the tabloids and her life was upended by Weinstein and a shadowy Israeli intelligence firm he had hired. They leaked pictures of her at a party hosted by Italy’s Trump-like President Silvio Berlusconi, a powerful businessman with mob ties and a reputation as a professional vulgarian who brutalized women. The most harrowing part of this segment is how quickly and easily Weinstein could distract the tabloid media with such smears.
In the second segment (9:30 p.m.), reporter Ken Auletta and writer Kim Masters discuss their yearlong efforts to document Weinstein’s behavior, an open secret in the entertainment industry and in law enforcement.
Based both on his book "Catch and Kill" and the podcasts it inspired, these documentaries, which unfold in half-hour dollops, don’t exactly rise to the level of "television." Despite their brevity, they can be repetitive and probably better enjoyed in book form or listened to while enduring a daily commute.
I’m probably in the minority here. Podcasts, particularly those of the true-crime variety, have spread like kudzu and have inspired docuseries of endless variety, "entertaining" millions with reliable tales of serial killers and depravity. Help yourself.

Not to be confused with National Geographic’s SharkFest, offering "When Sharks Attack: Extra Bite" (8 p.m.), "Shark Attack Files" (9 p.m.) and "Shark Attack Investigation" (10 p.m.).
