Gerald Ray Farrell

WILMINGTON

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Gerald Ray Farrell, loving husband and father, passed away at home surrounded by his family at the age of 73.

Gerald was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on July 4, 1947 to Naomi and Frank Farrell. He graduated Southwestern High School in 1965 and Ball State University in 1969. Gerald worked at Cummins Engine Company for 33 years in North American sales until his retirement in 2007.

Gerald married his high school sweetheart Nancy in 1968. They had two sons, Brandon and Barry, and lived around Columbus, Indiana, Connecticut and Illinois until they relocated to Wilmington North Carolina in 2008 to be close to their five grandchildren.

Gerald was a hard worker and liked to do things right. Although a quiet man, Gerald was as sincere as they come. He was dedicated to his family and never missed his grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. He also loved to attend outdoor concerts with Nancy. He was a Hospice volunteer for 8 years and delivered food for Good Shephard Ministry.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi and Frank, and his brother Duane. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy, sons Brandon (Stephanie) and Barry (Chrissy) and grandchildren Graham, Kennedy, Hudson, Ellie and Noah.

Gerald leaves behind a life well lived and an amazing family that gave him great pride, support and love over the years.

Friends who wish to join the family to celebrate Gerald’s life can gather at Flat Rock Methodist Church on Saturday, July 24 at 1:30pm.
