HARTSVILLE
Arnold E. Beckett, 89, of Hartsville, passed away Saturday July 24, 2021 at IU Health West Hospital.
Born on March 28, 1932 in Franklin County in Indiana, Arnold was the son of Charles D. and Ethel Roberts Beckett. He married Janet Wheeler on July 15, 1953.
Before retirement, Arnold was employed at Chevron Oil Corporation in construction maintenance. He served in the United States Navy.
Arnold was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartsville, Hartsville Masonic Lodge #547, and The American Legion in Hope. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of Hartsville; children, Mark (Kathy) Beckett of Windermere, FL and Susan Beckett Barry of Forked River, NJ; grandchildren, Lauren Beckett Thom of Windermere, FL, Andrew Beckett of Windermere, FL, Tim (Lynn) Barry of Tom’s River, NJ, Katie Barry of Forked River, NJ, and Devin (Brittney) Barry of Tom’s River, NJ; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Iris Czap of Hartsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheryl Beckett; and siblings, Shirley Loper, Neosha Love, Harold D. Beckett, Roger Beckett, Olas Beckett, and Arthur Beckett.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Tallent officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
