Ruby “Diann” DeHart

HOPE

Ruby “Diann” DeHart, 70, of Hope, passed away at July 21, 2021.

Diann was born November 4, 1950 in Columbus, the daughter of Lester and Ruth Jackson DeHart. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and regularly attended East Columbus United Methodist Church.

On March 20, 1968, Diann sustained severe injuries in a car accident the left her deprived of the ability to perform many natural physical activities. However, blessings can come out of any tragedy. Diann’s courageous, positive attitude was an inspiration to all who were around her. Throughout 53 years of extreme difficulties, her gentle, thankful spirit always rose above whatever obstacles she encountered. She remained ever faithful to her Lord and Savior, and desired to see others know him the way she did.

Another blessing was the outpouring of love and support from the community. Monetary donations were taken at local sporting events while she was still at Methodist Hospital. When she finally made it home, the local community was there in shifts to help with the regimented physical therapy.

Diann is survived by her sister Karen (Bob) VanEst of Seymour; nieces Delight (Joe) Shubert of Brainbridge, Indiana and Joy VanEst of Tennessee; as well as a nephew Matthew (Lara) VanEst of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday July 26, 2021 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Marcus Speer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.

The family would like to express profound appreciation to all who sent cards, visited Diann, and were prayer warriors for her throughout her life. We rejoice at her arrival home and the gift of knowing that she is now whole again in the presence of her Lord.
