A ceremony was conducted Tuesday to congratulate the Bartholomew County Jail inmates who have graduated from the BART Treatment Program at the jail.
Using the Matrix Model for Criminal Justice systems (an evidenced-based practice), participants were provided more than 400 hours of group and individual treatment for substance abuse recovery.
BART: Begin…Accept…Reveal…Transform, is a matrix model evidence-based treatment program for criminal justice entities.
“By turning a portion of the Bartholomew County Jail into a drug treatment facility, we created the ability to treat inmates who can benefit from a treatment plan,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Chief Deputy Maj. Chris Lane. “I am extremely proud of these men and women,” Lane and Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said.
The minimum treatment period is 12 weeks. The program is completed in seven phases. The screening and intake process covers the first five phases, with initial direct contact from inmates who are interested in participating.
The jail is currently averaging 14.5 weeks of treatment.
