Columbus North and Columbus East are set up for possible sectional final matchups in both boys and girls soccer after the tournament draws were conducted by the IHSAA Sunday night.
The Class 3A No. 8 Columbus North girls will open Center Grove Sectional play against Greenwood at around 7 p.m. Oct. 5. A win likely would set up a semifinal showdown with 3A No. 9 Center Grove on Oct. 7. Columbus East will play Whiteland in the second semifinal on Oct. 7, and the final is Oct. 9.
On the boys side, North and East are in the seven-team New Albany Sectional. The Bull Dogs will play Jeffersonville in at around 7 p.m. Oct. 5. The Olympians received a first-round bye and will play in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Oct. 6 against the winner from the Oct. 4 Jennings County-New Albany match. The North-Jeffersonville winner will play the Floyd Central-Seymour winner in the second semifinal on Oct. 6. The final is Oct. 9.
Hauser’s boys will play Morristown in the opening round of the Class A Southwestern (Shelby) Sectional. A win would put the Jets in the second semifinal against Southwestern. Oldenburg Academy and Greenwood Christian Academy will meet in the first semifinal.
Also in Class A boys, Trinity Lutheran will play Rock Creek Academy in the semifinals of the Trinity Sectional. Brown County will meet Monrovia in the first round of the 2A Monrovia Sectional.
The Jennings girls are hosting a 3A sectional and will play Jeffersonville in the first round. Brown County’s girls will play the winner between Northview and West Vigo in the semifinals of the 2A Owen Valley Sectional. Trinity’s girls will play the winner between host Christian Academy of Indiana and Providence in Class A.
All sectional finals are Oct. 9.
This year’s regional action will be split over two days. Girls regional semifinals will be Oct. 13, and boys regional semifinals will be Oct. 14. Odd-numbered boys and girls sectional winners will host regional semifinals, meaning North or East would be at home. If they get that far, the Bull Dogs or Olympians would play in regional finals Oct. 16 at Seymour, and the semistate Oct. 23, also likely at Seymour.
The state finals will be Oct. 29-30 at IUPUI’s Michael Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium. Two classes, to be determined after the semistate round, will play on Oct. 29, and four will play on Oct. 30.
