Trinity tops Tigers

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran began its quest for what it hopes will be a state title Thursday with a 25-2, 25-8, 25-8 rout of Crothersville in the opening round of the Trinity Sectional.

Addison Darlage led the Cougars (26-4) with 21 assists and six aces. Ruthie Bingham pounded nine kills, Kamzi Gross notched 12 digs and Stella Kleffman served six aces.

Also for Trinity, Bailey Tabeling tallied eight kills and three aces, and Carson Bowling added six kills. Bingham had seven digs, and Kleffman added six digs.

The Cougars advance to play Oldenburg Academy in the semifinals at around 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner will face the winner of West Washington-Rising Sun semifinal in the sectional final at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Mohawks sweep Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh’s season came to an end with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-16 loss to Waldron in the opening round of the Edinburgh Sectional.

The Mohawks advance to play Hauser in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Lancers finish the season 8-20.
