CPD arrests two on warrants

Two wanted persons were arrested Monday evening after a CPD officer observed them in a vehicle near Ninth Street Park.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., CPD officers observed both Kaylee D. Shuffitt, 27, of 902 Short Wilson St., as well as Jeffrey L. Watts, 44, of 1951 McKinley Ave., acting suspiciously inside a vehicle near the park. The officers confirmed warrants for both Shuffitt and Watts and they were taken into custody, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

While searching Watts’ clothing, the officers located several baggies containing methamphetamine and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia and several pills, Harris said.

Shuffitt and Watts were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where they are being held on the following preliminary charges:

Kaylee Shuffitt: Bartholomew County warrant, bond set at $150,000.

Jeffrey Watts: Bartholomew County warrant, dealing in methamphetamine, legend drug deception, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, false identity statement, bond set at $141,000.
