Columbus police locate and disarm pipe bomb in Greenbelt ditch

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A pipe bomb was located and later destroyed by specially trained Columbus Police Department personnel after the explosive was located at a Columbus golf course on Sunday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m., CPD officers responded to Greenbelt Golf Course at 1000 N. Gladstone Ave. in regards to a suspected pipe bomb that was located in a ditch. Members of the CPD Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the scene and later rendered the device safe. There were no injuries and there is not believed to be any danger to the public.

A search of the area was conducted and no additional explosive devices were located.
