Icemen, Flames youth teams compete

Several Columbus Youth Hockey teams were in action last weekend.

The Columbus Icemen lost to Central Indiana Knights 3-2. John Ferguson netted one goal and one assist, Barrett Mudd scored one goal and Tristan Tyner had one assist. Jacob McMullen was in net.

Columbus Flames Bantam A tied the Rockford Rams 0-0 and lost 2-1, beat 2008 Honey Baked 2008 6-2 and lost to the 2007 Ann Arbor Wolverines 6-1. Kaitlyn Netser netted two goals and one assist, Calijah Kenney scored two goals, Cole Finney had one goal and two assists,Will Jamerson and Wyatt Warner each added one goal and one assist, Eduardo Aranda scored one goal, Drew Weed had two assists and Leif Nelson and Carson King each added one assist. Jackson Wheatley was in net.

Columbus Flames Bantam B beat Dayton Stealth 9-5 and lost 9-7. Sawyer Patterson netted eight goals and two assists, Tyson Tyner had three goals and one assist, Blake Avery added two goals and one assist, Tyler Hubler scored two goals, Jonah Young had one goal and two assists, and Leah Doig and Noah Dornfield each added one assist. Lane Barringer was in net.

Columbus Flames Peewee A swept Junior Fuel Black 6-5 and 6-4. Ethan Neumann netted five goals and one assist, Brooks Larsh scored four goals, Ryan McGhehey added 2 goals, Simon Barnes had one goal and one assist and Henry Jamerson, Henry Schloemer, Grace Wallace and Kai Bergmann all added one assist. Canyon Long was in net.

Columbus Flames Peewee B fell to the Meramac Sharks 4-1, the Gross Island Islanders 3-0 and 4-3 and the Cyclones 3-2. Dana Thomas scored three goals; Garret Uy, Bryson Moore and Lilli Donica all added one goal; Preston Bell had 2 assists; and Hudson Beckom, John Tuttle, Uriah Oliphant and Ayden Richardson all had one assist. Gabe Marsh was in net three games, and Hudson Beckom was in net one game.

Columbus Flames Squirt A lost to the Columbus Capitals 3-2 and 8-3. Thomas King scored two goals, Maddox Coy and Carter Harris each had one goal and one assist, Bentley Hampton scored one goal and Keaton Grube and Nolan Sparkman each added one assist. Caydon Long was in net.

Columbus Flames Squirt B tied South Indy Sharks 1-1 and 3-3 and beat Cincinnati Swords 5-0 and won 3-0. Thomas Degner netted three goals and one assist; Avery Orgass and Graham Barnes each had two goals and one assist; Carson Sims scored two goals; Carter Zortman and Luke Powers each had one goal and one assist; Declan McGurk recorded three assists; Jonah Oliphant scored one goal; and Clare Neff, Hallie Mudd and Colton Pepmeier all added one assist. Knox Coen was in net.

BROOMBALL

Monsters or Rock, Hansons play to tie

Monsters of Rock and Hansons, the only two remaining unbeaten teams in the Columbus Broomball League, played to a 2-2 tie.

Zach Henderson and Rob Jones scored the goals for Monsters. Matt Street and Max Warr scored for Hansons.

Our Name Is Earl beat Toyota Tsunamis 7-2. Darren Eckerly netted three goals, Tom Kareus scored two and Cesar Hernandes and Noah Marsh each added one for Earl. Clayton McNealy had both goals for Tsunamis.

CCA and Jennings County BC tied 1-1. Greg Thomas scored for CCA, and Kyle Hunterman had the goal for Jennings.

BASKETBALL

Panther eighth-grade boys move to 4-0

The Jennings County eighth-grade boys White basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 54-15 win against Greensburg. Parker Elmore scored 21 points, while Cash Millspaugh had 11 and Luke Alexander added nine.

The Panther seventh-grade boys White team fell to Greensburg 49-26. Cooper Lane and Mikey Hall each scored eight points for Jennings (0-4).

The Panther seventh-grade boys Blue team beat South Decatur 49-29. Brett Sanders, Nate Fewell and Ryan Clark all scored eight points.

Jennings’ eighth-grade boys Blue fell to South Decatur 46-41. Carter Hudson scored 13 points, and Zach Wahlman added 11.
