Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local driver Sunday after they observed her vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on 25th Street near Talley Road.
Radar confirmed that the vehicle’s speed was twice that of the posted speed limit. As deputies attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle pulled into a driveway at a residence in the 6000 block of East 25th Street. The driver then drove through the grass and into another driveway, deputies said.
The driver, later identified as Stephanie Denney, 34, of 6242 25th St., exited the vehicle and ran into the residence, deputies said.
A short time later, she was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges
of:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangerment
Resisting law enforcement
Reckless driving
Denney was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $17,500 bond, jail officials said.
