Dragons top Olympians

SELLERSBURG — Columbus East dropped it season opener 69-57 Wednesday night at defending Class 3A state champion Silver Creek.

Ben Sylva scored 21 points, and Julius Dailey added 20 for the Olympians, who play Noblesville in their home opener on Saturday.

Bull Dogs split matches

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus North split its two matches in the season-opening Turkey Tussle at Jeffersonville. The Bull Dogs defeated Corydon Central 54-24 but fell to Jeffersonville 41-30.

Liam Curfman at 106 pounds, Justice Thornton at 132, Jaedin Richards at 138, Josiah Green at 145 and Jared Slocum at 182 all went 2-0 on the day.

Eagles go 0-4

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County opened its season with four losses in the Edgewood Invitational. Brown County fell to Mt. Vernon 78-4, Edgewood 78-6, Terre Haute North 72-8 and Floyd Central 78-6.

Chris Luckey went 3-1 for the Eagles. Brandon Phelps went 2-2.
