Water rescue team at scene of vehicle found in East Fork White River

A ground search has begun on the East Fork White River riverbanks searching for another occupant of the vehicle found in the river.

ORIGINAL STORY

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County’s water rescue team is at the scene of a car found in the East Fork White River by duck hunters at about 6 a.m. this morning, Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said.

One person was pulled from the car and taken to Columbus Regional Hospital but no further information is available about that individual, deputies said. Deputies are investigating whether a second person might be in the vehicle.

The car was found in the river off of Blessing Road where it dead ends at State Road 11 south, deputies said.

The water rescue team is still on the scene and more details will be made available as the investigation continues, deputies said.
