Anna Marie Garcia

COLUMBUS

Anna Marie (Mills) Garcia, 83, went to be with Jesus on November 27, 2021. Anna was born October 7, 1938 on a little farm in Grantsburg, Indiana. She was one of seven children born to Everett and Dimple Mills. She attended God’s Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Anna met and married Joel Garcia of New Gulf, Texas on August 30, 1958 and together had two daughters. Anna, alongside her husband, opened Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant in Columbus in 1970 where they were blessed to work side by side for 50 years. Anna was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church where she and her husband attended and served faithfully.

In addition to loving Jesus with all of her heart, she also loved her family well. Anna was kind and tenderhearted, trustworthy, generous and completely devoted. She was compassionate and merciful to everyone around her, hardworking in all she did. Anna was wise and unwavering, walking through life with grace and dignity, always speaking truth. Her legacy “is worth more than rubies. Her husband had full confidence in her and lacked nothing in value, she brought him good not harm, all the days of her life. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all rise and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31)

Anna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joel Garcia and daughters, Valerie (Earl) Drake and Christina “Varsi” (Jim) Weeter. She also had seven grandchildren: Leah (Cole) Kercheval, Caleb (Elizabeth) Drake, Lydia (Brandon) Kercheval, Sophia Weeter, Jack Weeter, Samuel Weeter and Lila Weeter.

Anna had 10 great-grandchildren: Evalyn, Amelia, Henry, Georgia, Luisa, Hazel, Daisy, Oliver, Everett and Adaline.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Dimple Mills and six siblings: Erma Scott, Norma Woolems, Samuel Mills, Paul Mills, Hilda Tilley and David Mills.
