BOYS BASKETBALL

North downs Artesians

MARTINSVILLE — Columbus North was victorious for the second time in as many nights, picking up a 64-57 victory at Martinsville.

The Bull Dogs (4-1) jumped out to a 37-25 halftime lead and held on for the win.

Cooper Horn led North with 15 points. Sam King scored 11, and Rhett Harmon added a career-high 10.

Jets rout Yellow Jackets

MORRISTOWN — Hauser jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and went on to claim a 61-36 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Morristown.

Bryce Bates

Bryce Bates led the Jets (2-2, 1-0) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Eli Miller scored 13 points, and Koby Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Panthers tame Lions

SELLERSBURG — Jennings County built a 27-18 halftime lead and went on to post 58-48 win at Rock Creek Academy.

Keegan Manowitz led the Panthers (2-1) with 19 points and eight assists. Jacob Vogel added 10 points, all in the second half.

Lancers stay perfect

WALDRON — Class A No. 5 Edinburgh remained unbeaten with a 75-61 MHC victory at Waldron.

Caleb Dewey scored 21 points, and Travis Jones had 20 to lead the Lancers (4-0, 1-0). Landen Burton added 19.

Eagles top Cougars

GREENSBURG — Class A No. 10 Jac-Cen-Cel built a 43-34 halftime lead and held on for an 85-81 win at South Decatur.

Hunter Johnson led the Cougars (1-3) with 27 points. Jacob Scruugs scored 23, and Evan Wullenweber added 10.

Brown County falls

GREENCASTLE — Brown County led 34-26 at halftime, but South Putnam rallied for a 52-51 Western Indiana Conference win.

Ben Wagler led the Eagles (2-2, 0-1) with 19 points. Carter Kelly added 14.

WRESTLING

East wins Jeff Duals

JEFFERSONVILLE — No. 11 Columbus East went 5-0 at the Jeffersonville Duals, beating Cincinnati Oak Hills 54-24, New Palestine 72-6, South Dearborn 72-3, Jennings County 65-6 and Jeffersonville 40-27 on Saturday.

Liam Krueger (113 pounds), Noah Lykins (120), Reece Fisher (138), Kade Law (160), Jordan Sutton (170), Tommy Morrill (220) and Ashton Hartwell (285) all went 5-0 for the Olympians. Bo Wagner (126), Kenton Wilson (145), Tristan Statler (182) and Jaden Durnil (195) all went 4-1, and Tyler Lake (152) went 3-2.

Jennings beat Oak Hills 45-31 and South Dearborn 43-30 on Friday, then on Saturday, fell to Southridge 59-15, Jeffersonville 49-30, New Palestine 40-36, East and Heritage Hills 54-24. Lane Kirchner (120) and Evan Sochacki (138) each went 5-2, and Bryce Barnes (152) went 4-3 for the Panthers.

Bull Dogs go 2-3

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North went 2-3 in the Bloomington South Invitational. The Bull Dogs fell to Center Grove No. 2 55-17 and Bloomington South 63-15, beat Bloomington North 63-12, lost to Center Grove No. 1 69-3 and downed Martinsville 48-33.

Justice Thornton (126) and Jared Slocum (170) each went 4-1 to lead the Bull Dogs. Bryce Hawkins (113) and Bryce Abner (195) each went 3-2.

SWIMMING

Trojans sweep Frogs

Center Grove swept a dual at Columbus North, winning the boys meet 107-73 and the girls meet 141-45.

David Fry led the Bull Frog boys with wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.79 seconds) and 100 butterfly (57.77). Cole Wheeler took the diving competition (215.40), Daniel Utterback captured the 100 freestyle (48.80), and North won the 400 freestyle relay (3:21.61).

Paige Maddox was the lone first-place finisher for the girls, taking the 500 freestyle in 5:51.99.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Eagles rally for win

GREENCASTLE — Brown County trailed 23-21 at halftime before rallying for a 58-46 WIC win at South Putnam.

Savannah Oden led the Eagles (2-6, 2-1) with 16 points. Maddie Huff scored 13, and Abigail Watson added 10.

Twisters edge Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur led 32-29 after three quarters, but Oldenburg Academy rallied for a 43-40 victory.

Kiley Best led the Cougars (1-7) with 18 points. Brayley Sundal added six.
