Lasting Impressions Christmas show is this weekend

Members of The Lasting Impressions theater troupe rehearse a scene from “Santa’s Retirement Party.”

Tickets remain for The Lasting Impressions senior troupe’s annual Christmas dinner theater musical to be presented at 6 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Sunday at Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St. in Columbus. Sadie’s Catering is coordinating the meal.

This year’s production directed by troupe leader Donna Browne is “Santa’s Retirement Party.” In the past, many of the shows have sold out.

Browne got the idea for the theme after hearing a humorous seasonal song “Santa’s in a High-Risk Group,” talking of his overweight status and more.

“That was all it took to convince me that Santa needed to retire,” Browne said, “so I wrote the drama and found appropriate music to fit in to make a musical.”

The presentation opens with Mrs. Claus planning the big fella’s retirement party.

The current show is dedicated to the memory of Kevin Butler, a gifted choral conductor who worked with the troupe for several years. He died earlier this year.

Tickets are $25 and available at Mill Race Center at 812-376-9241.
