Mildred Y. (Bonnie) Shearer, 82 of Seymour passed away on December 8 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Voss &Sons Funeral Home in Seymour with the Larry Tingle of First Baptist Church of Seymour, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Voss &Sons. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the time of service.
Mildred was born Anderson, Indiana to George M. &Lois E. Taylor in 1939. Mildred met Samuel E. Shearer, while working at Markland Caf? in Scottsburg, Indiana. They were married on February 25, 1956, at the Justice of the Peace in Indianapolis and were happily married over 64 years until Sam passed on January 6, 2021.
She started her working career at the age of 13. She worked for 55 years in retail &grocery at Nolting’s IGA and Walmart Supercenter in Seymour. She was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church for nearly 60 years. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and co-workers.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Samuel E. Shearer, parents George M. &Lois Taylor, Stepfather John Oberring, Sr., brother George D. Taylor, sisters Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Ross, and Carol (Susie) Mayes.
Bonnie is survived by her children; Cherri Lyn Shearer and Gary Bush, Anthony E. (Tony) and Valerie Shearer, Pamela S. and (Mark) Hauersperger. Five grandchildren, Jonathon D. Hauersperger, Anthony A. (Samantha) Shearer, Taylor R. (Alex) Taylor, Alex A. Shearer, Samuel R. Hauersperger. Great grandchildren, Anthony T. Shearer, four step grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Schneck Cancer Center, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Provisions Food Bank. The family of Bonnie wish to thank Dr. Calhoun for his years of service to the family.
