Beverly Lee Wilson

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Beverly Lee Wilson, 78, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 5:29 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Columbus, September 28, 1943, the loving daughter of Charles H. and Mildred J. Beatty Fields. On August 20, 1960, Beverly married Gene E. Wilson; he survives.

Mrs. Wilson was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School. She was a painting contractor for 26 years and in 2001, Beverly and Gene built and started Wilson’s Kennel, a business they would own until 2009 before retiring and turning the business over to their family.

Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of Jennings Church of Christ in North Vernon. A pet lover, she volunteered at the Humane Society, and she enjoyed reading, boating and camping. She loved her family dearly and she cherished her granddaughters.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Gene; children, Kelly (Curtis) Wilson Lucas of Columbus and Glen Wilson of Columbus; granddaughters, Lacey Walp, Lydia (Luke) Walker, and Lindsey Wilson; sisters, Sandra (Paul) Keith, Nancy (Bill) Renshaw, and Robbin Ward; and her special companion, her dog, Roxy.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Fields and her brother, Eddie Fields.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Reverend Marcus Speer officiating. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wilson will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.
