Marilu Carr

Marilu Carr, 85, of Columbus, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, the morning of

January 2, 2022, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Marilu was born April 25, 1936, in Columbus, Indiana to Paul and Clara Mae Finkle. She attended Columbus High School graduating in 1954. It was in high school where Marilu met, and eventually married, Byron “Barney” Carr in 1955. Together Marilu and Barney traveled extensively and lived very active lives. Marilu loved God and her church family. A lifelong member of First Christian Church, Marilu served on many committees. Known for her delicious pumpkin pies and gracious hospitality, she and Barney hosted annual hog roasts, fish frys and many social gatherings at their country home. Marilu enjoyed collecting antiques, tending to her flower gardens and playing with her beloved Yorkies.

The family wishes to thank the many friends who regularly visited Marilu at her home near Petersville and during the time she resided at Four Seasons. Those visits meant a great deal to her. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the caring staff at Four Seasons who became like family to Marilu.

Survivors include daughters, Denise Anderson and Jeanine (Paul) Franke; son, John Carr; sister-in-law, Deborah Finkle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marilu was preceded in death by her husband, Byron and her brother, Larry Finkle.

Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date.
