Mr. Carlton Lee “Carl” Blaney, age 89, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on November 27, 1932 in Bartholmew County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Clarence Elmer and Mabel Gladys Matlock Blaney. He attended the Christianburg School in Brown County and on July 24, 1964 he was united in marriage to Naomi Ruth Craig. This union of 27 years was blessed with a son, David Lynn. Carl had worked for the Brown County State Park, Ed Huntsman Plumbing and Carpentry in Brown County, he also worked for the Brown County State Highway Department in construction, and retired from the Brown County Courthouse as a janitor in 1994. On July 30, 1994 Carl was united in marriage to Mary Lee Webster Thompson at the Kent Christian Church. This happy union of 27 years blended two families together. He was a member of the Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church in Brown County and attended Kent Christian Church after moving to Hanover in 1994. Carl loved playing cards, collecting tractors and hats, caring for his lawn, going to church functions, auctions, yard sales and being with his family. Carl was a very social and jovial man. Carl died on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 9:30 p.m. at the his home in Hanover, Indiana. Carl will be missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Mary Lee Webster Thompson Blaney of Hanover, Indiana; his beloved son, David Lynn Blaney of Aurora, Indiana; his step sons, John Harold Thompson, Jr. of Akron, Ohio, Danny Joe Thompson and his wife, Rose of Uniontown, Ohio; his step daughter, Beverly Sue Ginn and her husband, David of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Mendy Goldsmith (Daniel), Jessica Osbourne (Dave), Nick Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Trevor Thompson, Angela Mason, Meghan Eatinger (Chad), Dustin Jones, and Cody Jones; his great grandchildren, Destiny (Brandon), Haleigh (Phillip), Jaxon, Sophie, Zoe, David, Tanner, Makayla, Ella, Coleson, John, Zach, Ivy, Luci, Lilly, and Ethan; his great great grandchildren, Kaiden, Makena, and Wyatt; his brother, Guy E. Blaney and his companion, Virgie of Columbus, Indiana; his sister in law, Wanda Webster of Florida; his brother in law, David and Sally Webster of Jensen Beach, Florida; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Elmer Blaney, died July 9, 1973, his mother, Mabel Gladys Matlock Blaney, died November 10, 1970, his first wife of 27 years, Naomi Ruth Craig Blaney, died July 23, 1991, and his grandsons, John Harley and Mason. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm, by Pastor Paul Huntsman at the Harmony Baptist Church, New Bells Pike Road near Nashville, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Bellsville Cemetery,6974 Bellsville Pike near Nashville, Indiana. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre-Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana and Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the Harmony Baptist Church, New Bells Pike Road near Nashville, Indiana.
