A wanted person was arrested after a short foot pursuit on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., CPD officers observed Mary Jaylin Craig, 25, of Edinburgh, inside a vehicle that was traveling on Union Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed a warrant for Craig’s arrest, and when they attempted to stop the vehicle, Craig fled from the vehicle on foot, Harris said. A foot pursuit ensued and Craig was apprehended a short time later in the 1600 block of Union Street.

While searching Craig’s clothing, the officers located a small bag containing methamphetamine inside one of her pants pockets, Harris said. Craig was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where she was remanded on the following preliminary charges:

Bartholomew County warrant

Possession of methamphetamine (Level 5 felony)

Resisting law enforcement (Class A misdemeanor)

She was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $170,000 bond, jail officials said.
