McDonald nominated to redevelopment commission

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus native and employee of Taylor Brothers Construction Co. has been nominated to join the Columbus Redevelopment Commission.

The Columbus Board of Works approved a conflict of interest disclosure statement for Shannon McDonald on Jan. 11. McDonald is an accounting analyst at Taylor Brothers, which has worked with the city on the NexusPark project. He is also on the board of directors for the Community Education Coalition and the Columbus Area Multi-Ethnic Organization, serving as vice president of the latter organization.

According to city Clerk-Treasurer Luann Welmer, no specific conflicts are mentioned on McDonald’s form.

“Shannon has not been formally appointed,” said Director of Administration and Community Development Mary Ferdon. “That will happen at the next city council meeting, but we are thrilled to have him agree to sit on the redevelopment commission.”

According to its bylaws, the commission consists of five members, with three appointed by the mayor and two appointed by city council. Terms for members are one year. According to Redevelopment Director Heather Pope, McDonald fills the seat left by council-appointed member Don Trapp. The council’s other appointment is returning member Al Roszczyk.
