David G. Spangler

HARTSVILLE

David G. Spangler, 82 of Hartsville passed away Sunday January 16, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Born February 17, 1939 in Millstone, KY Dave was the son of Thomas H. and Belvia Hall Spangler. He married Sandra Beck August 16, 1996 and she survives.

David is survived by his wife Sandra of Hartsville; daughters, Misty (John) Henderson of Columbus and Tiffany Davis of Columbus; step daughters, Shari (Bill) Lentz of Columbus and Debra Beck Settle of Columbus; grandchildren, Zachary (Michelle) Flynn of Columbus, Shane Henderson of Columbus, Nathan Henderson of Columbus, Madison Henderson of Columbus, Cassidy Davis of Columbus, Reece Davis of Greenwood, Aaron (Cora) Lentz of Columbus, Ashley (Eric) Fults of Columbus, Tucker Settle of Columbus and Seleah Settle of Columbus; great grandchildren, Ira Flynn, Everett and Wells Lentz, and Annie and George Fults; sisters, Judy (Edward) Nelson of Martinsville and Shirley (Bob) Bousman of Florence, AL; sister-in-law, Patricia Spangler of Neon, KY and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Willie Spangler and Janice Spangler and his father and mother-in-law, Bud and Lillian Bishop.

David retired from Turner Machines as a machinist. He had also been employed through the years at Stokely Van Camp, Quaker Oats and Ball Cooperation.

He was a member of Athens Church and Bible Study Fellowship. He volunteered at the Lincoln Center Neighborhood Family Center where he helped with so many projects. He went on several mission trips to help cities in need. David was always ready to lend a hand to help someone and he will never know how many lives he touched.

He loved woodworking and the challenge of repairing things, fishing and camping. David loved spending time with his family.

A funeral for David will be Saturday January 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with David’s grandson Pastor Aaron Lentz officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
