Jacob Daine Thompson Voelker

COLUMBUS

Jacob Daine Thompson Voelker, 26, of Columbus, Indiana, crossed over from this life into paradise on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022.

Jacob is survived by his mother, Donna Voelker; his father, Jonathan Voelker; his brother, Caleb Voelker; and far too many friends and family members he loved to be listed here.

Those who have only ever heard of Jacob knew him to be a star athlete at Columbus East High School, lettering in 3 sports while setting school records in track and being a part of the 2013 4A State Championship football team, East’s first since 1979…A team whose members he grew up playing sports with, and who he would describe not only as his teammates, but as his family. He was so proud to be an Olympian. For those of us lucky enough to have known JT personally, we will remember him most for his incessant passion and creativity. For his unique antics and sense of humor. For his fascination with LEGOs and his love of Star Wars, and for his relentless pursuit of spiritual enlightenment.

Jacob was an avid follower of Christ, never once wavering in his faith despite the countless obstacles he was challenged with overcoming throughout his lifetime.

A friend to all, Jacob was never one to exclude others. Having experienced so much in his time with us in this life, he never hesitated to extend his hand to the outcast and the broken. The love he possessed for others was uncompromising.

If you were to meet Jacob today, his profound joy and laughter would first catch your attention, his deeply intricate and powerful spirit would draw you in, and his selflessness and loyalty to those he loved and held dear would keep you close.

The hole his passing has left in our hearts can never be filled. Jacob was a loving son, a protective brother, and a dedicated friend. His memory will live on perpetually through those his spirit touched, and in the stories shared between those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. Family and friends may call for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service at the church.

Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home.

The family requests donations be made to Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress- Bartholomew County, an organization the Voelker family felt strongly about.

Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the Voelker family, and a video tribute viewed at www.barkesweaverglick.com.
