Charles Wayne Chapman

COLUMBUS

Charles Wayne Chapman, 82, of Columbus, died Monday January 31, 2022 at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis. He was born December 5, 1939 in Nashville, TN, to Edward W. and Willa Bea (Haley) Chapman.

Mr. Chapman was a veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He retired from Cummins where he worked as an electrical engineer.

Charles attended Parkside Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed NASCAR, sports, especially high school ball games, and sang with the Men’s Chorus of Seymour.

Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his father, Edward; and brother, Thomas Chapman.

Survivors include his loving mother, Willa Bea Chapman of Columbus; daughter, Casi (Chris) Mendenhall of Nicholasville, KY; and son, Chris Chapman of Seymour. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Haley, Bella, Carol Ann, and Bryson; niece, Theresa; and nephews, Wayne and Tim.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday February 7, 2022 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Dr. William E. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Combined Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday and an hour before service time Monday at the funeral home.
