MADISON
Estella Marie (Bishop) Brooks, 93 of Madison, Indiana formerly of Columbus, Indiana passed away February 2, 2022 at Norton King’s Daughter’s Health in Madison, Indiana. She was born March 6, 1928 in Bartholomew County, Indiana. She is the daughter of George W. and Mary L. (Thompson) Bishop. She married George W. Brooks on April 20, 1944 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1988.
She is survived by her son, Donald W. “Joanna” Brooks of Osgood, Indiana, daughters, Carolyn Sue Purvis of Taylorsville, Kentucky and Angela Lou Neville of Madison, Indiana, grandchildren, Tracy “Brian” Hamer of Greensburg, Indiana, Christina “Jeff” Brandt of Osgood, Indiana, Billy Ray Mead of Washington, Indiana, Jay Jr. Norton of Taylorsville, Kentucky, Lisa “Armando” Apolonio of Bloomfield, Kentucky, James Norton of Kentucky, Susan Nelson, and Stephanie Nelson, 27 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gary Dale Brooks, daughter, Teresa Fay Newcomb, great-granddaughter, Angel Lynn Mead, sisters, Velma Brown and Mary Reed, brother, Lewis Bishop, and son-in-law’s, Gary Purvis and Frank Neville.
Estella attended the former Blue River Gospel Tabernacle and the former Midway Assembly Of God. She loved her grandchildren and all of her family. She loved baking, sewing, animals, birdwatching, especially the Indiana song birds. Estella never let anyone leave her house hungry.
A private family funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Steve Thompson at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
