Downtown Columbus will see some traffic changes over the next few months due to construction.
According to a release from the city of Columbus, First Street is being converted to one-way westbound traffic through the end of March to accommodate utility work on the 1821 Bicentennial Trail.
New sidewalks, curbs, gutter, and underground utilities will be installed between Franklin Street and Lafayette Avenue in early to mid-March. This work will take place in front of the construction site for Bartholomew County’s new court services center.
Furthermore, there will be increased triaxle traffic near Second and Lafayette throughout March as construction begins on the new urban grocer and apartment complex being developed by Flaherty & Collins.
“Construction is expected to continue throughout the spring and summer,” according to city officials. “As construction progresses, updates will be posted and shared with local media. Please exercise caution when driving or walking in the area.”
