COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two local men are in custody on a number of charges including counterfeiting as well as weapon and drug violations after officers received a report of a suspicious person at a Columbus apartment complex on Saturday afternoon.
Columbus police were sent to the 4000 block of North County Road 150W where they
located Cody J. Miller, 23, of Columbus, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers confirmed a local warrant for Miller’s arrest and he was taken into custody. While searching Miller’s clothing, officers reportedly located several counterfeit bills, Harris said.
Officers also made contact Jarell E. Bowers, 22, of Columbus who was in a nearby vehicle. While speaking with Bowers, the officers noted the strong odor of marijuana inside his vehicle, Harris said. The officers later located marijuana packaged for sale inside of Bowers’ vehicle as well as a loaded .40-caliber handgun that he had concealed in the waistband of his pants, Harris said.
After being arrested both Miller and Bowers were transported to Bartholomew County Jail where they were remanded on the following preliminary charges:

–Jarell Bowers: Possession of a Handgun Without a Permit, Dealing in Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana
